U.S. connected home service bundle revenues will reach $500 million in 2012

CONNECTIONS™ Europe addresses global service provider opportunities for energy and home monitoring services

Research from Parks Associates estimates 2012 U.S. revenues from broadband connected home service bundles, including control, automation, and security monitoring services, will be approximately $500 million. The international research firm hosts CONNECTIONS™ Europe on 13-14 November 2012, in Amsterdam, and will present research on technologies, services, partnerships, and monetization strategies for service providers.

On the first day of the conference, GreenPeak Technologies, People Power Company, Sigma Designs, SEAS-NVE, Orange, iControl Networks, N.V. Nuon Energy, Telecom Italia, AlertMe, Swisscom, and Echelon will address the changing market dynamics for control and energy systems in the home, including consumer interest, awareness levels, and steps to attract new customers.

Parks Associates estimates over 50% of Western European households will have a data network by the end of 2012, creating the foundation for new service deployments such as remote home monitoring and energy management. "Offering bundled services and interactive features is critical for service providers in customer retention and subscriber growth, " said Stuart Sikes, President, Parks Associates. "CONNECTIONS™ Europe provides the opportunity to look at case studies of new value-added services in the U.S. and around the world and apply those to the current state of the European market."

  • Kevin Petersen, Senior Vice President, AT&T Digital Life, will present the opening keynote, highlighting the unique value propositions for home management services.
  • Thomas Knops, Head of Marketing & Sales, Deutsche Telekom - QIVICON, will present the closing keynote on energy efficiency as a mass-market driver and the importance of security, convenience, and a standards-based ecosystem.
