Parks Associates' Digital
Health Research
Affordable broadband technology and networking
solutions provide infrastructure support for digital home health
applications and services. By the end of 2005, only 40% of the
nation’s households had a broadband connection and only 29% of
them were networked. New broadband technology, such as Broadband
Over Powerline (BPL) and HomePlug solutions, will give users
more familiar devices and applications that help them get onto
the Net faster and easier.
The future home care delivery model includes
in-home health monitoring applications, innovative geriatric
care monitoring tools, and ubiquitous e-health services, all
integrated with care providers’ informatics infrastructure so
consumers can receive a high quality continuum of care at a
lower cost.
Parks Associates' Digital Health Research includes insight and
analysis of the following:
-
emerging technologies and applications in
the healthcare industry;
-
products and services that help consumers
manage their chronic disease;
-
advanced communication tools,
self-diagnostic devices, and home-monitoring appliances;
-
incentives, regulatory and reimbursement
issues; and,
-
the drivers and barriers for the
implementation of home-based care services.
