Eastman Kodak, Disney, Nortel, AOL, and others to provide insight at Parks Associates pre-show workshop The Digital Home Highway

Parks Associates will host a workshop, The Digital Home Highway, on January 5, 2005, in Las Vegas, Nevada, prior to 2005 International CES. This workshop will provide the latest consumer data and analysis on topics ranging from digital rights management to multimedia products and services.

In this workshop, Parks Associates’ analysts will present the latest research on the digital-living markets, and industry executives will discuss their specific efforts to build successful business models in this domain. This event will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., with a special leadership panel for the lunch session.

Parks Associates estimates that 26% of all Internet households now download video every month and 60% use digital music.

The Digital Home Highway will be a great primer for your week at CES,” said John Barrett, director of research at Parks Associates. “It will provide the market context needed to distinguish leading-edge products from bleeding-edge products at the show. Moreover, attendees will have the advantage of both expert analysis and ‘rubber meets the road’ experiences from executives in this market space.”

The morning sessions, titled Opportunities, Pot Holes, and Speed Bumps, will examine issues fundamental to the success of the digital home, including broadband deployment, the state of on-demand services and technologies, and digital rights management.

Participating industry executives:
   Alain Fernando-Santana, CEO, NetCentrex
   Mark Gray, CEO, Kasenna
Chris Parkerson, DRM Evangelist, RSA Security

Key executives from Eastman Kodak, Disney, Nortel, and AOL will participate in the special luncheon session Paving the Highway: Leaders in the Digital Home Market. Moderated by Kurt Scherf, vice resident and principal analyst at Parks Associates, this panel will examine past successes, present accomplishments, and future challenges to the digital home.

Luncheon speakers:
Mark Cook, Director, Imaging Systems Strategy, Eastman Kodak
Peter Lee, Vice President, The Walt Disney Company
Walt Megura, General Manager, Broadband Networks, Nortel Networks
Neil Smith, General Manager, AOL Digital Media Services Group

The afternoon sessions, titled The Consumer and Multimedia Vehicles, will focus on multimedia convergence and consumer issues.

Participating industry executives:
Colin L.M. Macnab, Vice President of Marketing & Business Development, Atheros
Idan Kessel, Senior Vice President of Business Development, TMT Coaxial Networks

The Digital Home Highway will take place January 5, 2005, 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., in the South Hall, rooms 106-107, in the Las Vegas Convention Center. The workshop has three parts, and attendees can purchase either a full- or half-day pass. The lunch session is included with both options.
