industry, will be held October 5-7, 2004, at the Jacob K. Javits
Convention Center in New York City
Parks Associates is the leading market research and consulting firm
focused on all product and service segments that are “digital” or provide
connectivity within the home. The company's expertise includes home
networks, digital entertainment, consumer electronics, broadband and
Internet services, and home systems.
“Parks Associates’ workshop and interactive panels are a perfect
complement to the conference,” said Christina Condos, show director,
TECHXNY. “I am confident that their
presentations will be of great value to all of the conference’s
attendees.”
“Through our research we help companies understand the consumer
technology markets and make well-informed strategic decisions, and we are
looking forward to sharing our knowledge with the
TECHXNY audience,” said
Tricia Parks,
president of Parks Associates. “We see a bright future for digital
applications, particularly in the entertainment domain. By the end of
2007, there will be eight million subscribers to on-demand music services,
generating over $900 million annually.”
Parks Associates will offer a pre-show workshop entitled
“Access, Services, and Multimedia in the Home.” The growth in “Digital
Home” products and solutions will reach a critical growth stage in 2004
and 2005. By leveraging the well-established (and growing) broadband and

device manufacturers (and the component and software developers in
between) will set their sights on next-stage opportunities. This workshop
will take place on October 4 from 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. The cost of this
class is $395 for early-bird registrations and $495 for attendees that
register on-site. To register visit

Parks Associates with offer three interactive panels during TECHXNY,
including:
Understanding Digital Services to the Home: Movies, music, and gaming
are all being pushed down the Internet pipe to consumers. This session
will provide an overview of these services and analyze the drivers,
inhibitors, and prospects for adoption as well as how these services will
impact demand for hardware devices and broadband access. Speakers include:
Surya Mantha, General Manager, Business & Market Development, of
RealNetworks, Inc.; John Rego, Chief Financial Officer of Vonage; Yoav
Tzruya, VP of Products & Market Strategy of Exent; and Ron Yurman, Senior
Director, Business Development of Music Choice. This panel will take place
on October 6 from 11:00 a.m. – 12:00 p.m.
Digital Ecosystems and Content Platforms in the Home: Digital media
exists within an electronic “ecosystem” that is comprised of computers,
home networks, TVs, stereos, portable players, and other hardware devices
— devices drawn from three major industry segments: computing, consumer
electronics, and communications. This session will examine the current
state and projected growth in the environment for digital media and will
delve into digital rights management, standards, and other issues
impacting growth. Speakers include: Mark Knox, Director, Digital Media
Devices of Sharp; Dave Clark, Director, Product Strategy & Management Home
Entertainment Products of Scientific-Atlanta; Vince Izzo, Vice President
of Consumer Solutions of Motorola; and Jeff Timbs, Business Development
Director, Agere Systems. This panel will take place on October 6 from 2:45
p.m. - 3:45 p.m.
Broadband Solutions Inside and Outside the Home: Growth of
connectivity and services in the home stems directly from the rise of
access to the home. This session will provide an overview and analysis of
fixed-line and wireless connectivity solutions, their growth, drivers, and
inhibitors, and will address questions regarding which technologies and
providers are best positioned to meet the consumer’s need for access.
Speakers include: David Park, Executive Director, Broadband Home Strategy
of AOL; Peter Percosan, Executive Director of Broadband Strategy of Texas
Instruments; and Ladd Wardani, Vice President of Business Development
Entropic. This panel will take place on October 7 from 11:15 a.m. - 12:15
