IoT Data: From Security to Analytics

The growing number of connected devices in consumers’ lives can be immensely valuable, both in creating personalized user experience and generating data that can be analyzed for future benefits. They also provide more targets for hackers. This report examines the ways in which companies leverage data – “big” and personal – gathered through connected smart home, entertainment, mobile, and health-related devices, to improve the user experience, target the most profitable markets, adjust pricing and premiums, and develop mutually beneficial industry partnerships. Yet, it also evaluates security issues for emerging connected products, and quantifies consumer concerns about security and privacy.
