Internet phone connections grow more popular

Star-TelegramThis was it. Cheryl Moseng looked at her telephone bill and felt enough was enough. She decided the time had come to sever the cord with her service provider …She chucked the bill and service provider MCI and found a cheaper alternative. Moseng tapped a small California company that provides Voice over Internet Protocol, or VoIP.

Last year, there were 110,000 VoIP subscribers in the United States, according to Parks Associates, a research firm in Dallas. Parks predicts that the number will climb to 4.5 million by 2007.
