Sharing Your Netflix And HBOGo Passwords Is Costing Streaming Services $500 Million

Research firm Parks Associates estimates that all the sharing of streaming passwords to circumvent subscription fees is costing providers roughly $500 million per year in lost revenue. They estimate that 6% of total users are using an account held by someone out of their household.

Of course, none of this can be news to most providers, which offer an “ask no questions” approach to providing streaming so long as your password and ID match.
