mPortal Launches ScreenBee, a Social TV App, Broadening the Second Screen Experience for Both Consumers and Content Providers

Heather Way, senior research analyst with Parks Associates, sees the potential for the second screen as well. “The ability to bring more video content and interactivity to second-screen devices brings significant promotional and revenue opportunities for content owners and service providers. It is increasingly common for consumers to use a smartphone or tablet app while watching TV to discover and share TV content via social media channels. Parks Associates research finds 25 percent of U.S. smartphone and tablet owners regularly chat, share, and interact with TV content while watching TV.”

Although ScreenBee is a consumer app, it’s also gives content providers a glimpse of how our solutions can help them build a second screen experience of their own. That’s because ScreenBee is built on top of mPortal’s SPRINGBOARD Media platform. As such, the app provides content providers with a very good idea of the type of solution they can develop using that platform. That solution can, of course, be customized to their own needs – all built on the same building blocks – discovery, enhanced viewing and interactive experiences – that form the basis of ScreenBee.
