Soul and Vibe to Build Micro-Transactions Into Its Console, Mobile, and PC Games

Soul and Vibe Interactive Inc., "The Company," a video and computer games company, announced today it plans to build micro-transactions into its games across multiple platforms including its console, mobile, and PC titles. Micro-transactions, or the purchase of additional functionality and/or content within a game, are a growing trend driven by the shift in gaming habits and purchases. Micro-transactions are creating recurring revenue streams for gaming companies.

According to a research report published by Parks Associates, smartphones and tablets are changing the gaming population and how players pay for games. Because these games are integrated with a player's established online account for their hardware platform of choice, it is easier for users to make in-game purchases without having to create a new account. The report states that for free-to-play mobile games, gamers are spending $21 per month to purchase virtual goods and upgrades.
