Three-fifths of US broadband homes never back up to cloud

The continued proliferation of mobile devices for services such as video is making storage a limiting factor for consumer content, but backing up to the cloud is far from being normal consumer behaviour says Parks Associates.

parkscloudThe analyst believes that as the connected consumer achieves greater mobility, connected devices are increasingly reliant on cloud-based features to enable enhanced consumer experiences and features that are unavailable in non-connected products.

Yet the Parks research Converging Clouds: The Next Step for the Personal Cloud found that despite options available from companies such as Carbonite, Acronis, and Backblaze, 62% of US broadband households never back up their data to an online storage service.
