AT&T Digital Life and Parks Associates Address Home Security, IP Connected Home Services in Keynotes at CONNECTIONS(TM) at CTIA 2013

Tricia Parks, CEO, Parks Associates, presents today on the growing presence of IP-enabled solutions in the home management and security markets as part of her keynote address "Emerging Markets for IP Home Management" at CONNECTIONS™. New research from Parks Associates finds 5% of U.S. broadband households (representing more than 4 million households) report they are very likely to purchase a home security system within the next 12 months. A majority of these households report they will adopt IP innovations.

"AT&T Digital Life has entered the connected home market, via the home security channel, betting the company can achieve considerable traction in the marketplace," Parks said. "AT&T joins giant security ADT, emerging Vivint, and newcomer Comcast; these transformative and innovative services are now showing up in Parks Associates' regular consumer surveys. While current adoption is low, these offerings will expand the security and controls marketplace."

Kevin Petersen, President, AT&T Digital Life, Inc., presented his CONNECTIONS™ keynote "Realizing the Connected Life ...into a new world of potential" on Monday, where he announced plans to launch AT&T Digital Life in seven additional markets, bringing the total up to 22. He also discussed the need for a fully integrated personalized home security and automation service.

"Service providers have to defend their traditional service areas while exploring new service and revenue opportunities," said Stuart Sikes, president, Parks Associates. "Mr. Petersen provided a glimpse into AT&T's strategy, saying that the platform will 'go deep' by offering more specialized apps on top of core security, control, and energy functionality. Our keynote speakers from Starz and Samsung will address questions on if and when those connected home apps will interact with content and entertainment services."

Parks Associates hosts the seventeenth-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, co-located with CTIA 2013 in Las Vegas, May 20-23. Several conference sessions focus on home security and new technologies emerging in the connected home, from larger companies and start-ups.

Jonathan Kim, VP, Content & Services, Samsung Media Solutions Center (MSCA), Samsung, will deliver the keynote "Adding Value to the Device Ecosystem through Content & Services" on May 21, 1:30 p.m.

John Penney, EVP, Strategy, Business Development, & Worldwide Distribution, Starz, will deliver the keynote "Thoughts from the Dream Factory: Opportunities and Issues with High-Value Entertainment Content on Mobile Devices" on May 22, 2:30 p.m.
