Healthcare Services Represent Attractive New Business Models for IoT Players

Market transformations are expanding healthcare into new, non-acute settings, including the connected home, where companies are actively seeking out new growth opportunities. Already nontraditional players are exploring smart home offerings such as security monitoring, which has obvious parallels to home-based health and wellness solutions as well as independent living products and services.

Parks Associates research shows:

  • One-third of U.S. broadband households plan to purchase a smart home device in the next 12 months.
  • 57% of U.S. broadband households with children access at least one health portal each month.
  • By 2019, nearly seven million U.S. consumers will benefit from connected health monitoring solutions for their chronic conditions.

These healthcare services could be attractive new business opportunities to service providers, technology companies, and device manufacturers, especially as consumer adoption of connected health devices approaches nearly one-third of U.S. broadband households.

Nowhere was this market crossover potential more apparent than during the Connected Health Summit, hosted by Parks Associates in San Diego September 9-10, where attendees represented many of the leading companies in consumer health technology, telecoms, consumer electronics, and the emerging Internet of Things markets.

Following the success of this event, Parks Associates is hosting a complimentary digital health webcast on September 29 to explore the unique crossover opportunities that exist between the connected health and smart home industries.

Digital health research director Harry Wang will be moderating the discussion alongside these presenters:

  • Paul Adams, Senior Director of Product Management for Home Monitoring, Philips
  • Don Boerema, Chief Corporate Development Officer, ADT Health

Speakers will examine the collaborations and partnerships new players need to pursue in the connected health space, as well as the different strategies necessary to engage healthcare consumers.

The event is completely free, so register to attend today!
