Naveen Chhangani, SVP & Chief Product Officer, ADT shares his insights on the energy management in the connected home ahead of Parks Associates' CONNECTIONS in-person conference.
Naveen will be sharing more insights at CONNECTIONS on May 7, 2024 at 1:30 PM in the panel "The Future of Connected Homes and the Expanding Markets." Join us for the 28th annual event here!
Looking ahead, what projects or developments in connected living are you particularly excited about this year, and why?
This year, I’m excited about several upcoming enhancements to the ADT+ platform. We are focusing on making the user interface more intuitive, which will improve overall user engagement. We're also enhancing security features, leveraging object and personal detection to ensure robust home protection during any event.
What strategies do you recommend for businesses to navigate the complexities of the connected home market and stay ahead of the competition?
Here are a few simple strategies I follow and believe will be helpful for others as well.
Focus on the real problem: Avoid feature creep. Instead, truly understand the issues your customers face and their current solutions.
Prioritize user experience over technology: The simplicity and intuitiveness of the product matter more to users than the specific technologies used.
Leverage ecosystem partnerships: The smart home market is fragmented. Collaborative efforts can help unify experiences and enhance functionality. For example, we integrate our partners’ capabilities at ADT to improve our offerings.
Educate and support: Provide users with accessible resources to ensure they feel capable and informed when using their devices or services.
As a leader in the industry, what trends do you foresee shaping the future of connected living in the next 5 years?
I believe it will be shaped by several key trends, starting with the integration of AI and ML. Homes will increasingly leverage these technologies to enhance the collective intelligence of connected devices. This means that systems will not only automate tasks but also adapt to each user's unique preferences and needs. Security will remain a top priority as these systems become smarter to protect devices and user’s privacy using smart home solutions. Additionally, the future will see a move towards more seamless interconnectivity among various devices within the home, creating a more cohesive and efficient living experience.
What are you excited most about to discuss during CONNECTIONS?
I am exploring how we can collaboratively work with partners to enhance our end-user security posture and overall user experience. Additionally, I look forward to discussing some of the recent advancements we have made in delivering AVS-01 and the new enhancements that are on the way.
