Apple Continues to Expand its Lead in the Wearables Market

A majority of US internet households now own and use at least one internet-connected health product that captures and interprets their health data. Consumers’ adoption and use of smart watches continue to increase, while other device categories have declined post the height of the pandemic.

Over half of wearables-owning households report owning and using an Apple Watch. Since its acquisition by Google, Fitbit has declined from the market leader to second place. After a successful 2021, Samsung’s market share is decreasing as the company switches to using Google’s WearOS platform and away from its Tizen operating system. Garmin has sustained its market share as it pivots away from entry-level devices and into a more premium product range including smart watches.
