Chester Chen, Director of International Market, Galaxywind Network Systems Co., provides insight on several key industry trends for Parks Associates’ 11th-annual CONNECTIONS™ Summit conference, which will be held January 5 at CES 2017 in Las Vegas:
What is the most important next step to engage consumers in smart home solutions, connected entertainment services, and/or value-added services like tech support and connected health?
A universal standard connection protocol would be very helpful to the hardware manufactures and end user. Stable and problem-solving user experience is also very critical in cultivating the market. Users are expecting innovative products that may solve problems.
What changes do you expect to take place in the next year in the smart home and connected consumer markets?
I hope there will be more and more companies participate in educating the market, which will both help the growth and unification.
What is the biggest driver for the connected consumer market?
Innovative products are always the biggest driver for the market.
What are the biggest technology innovations impacting the connected home market?
I cannot think of one that really has revolutionary impact, however, there are interesting technology or products coming out every now and then, we probably need a bit more time to make the judgement on what is really influential.
Chen will speak on the session “IoT and Smart Home: Seamless Interoperability” on January 5 at 1:15 p.m. Other speakers on the panel include Qualcomm, Arrayent Inc., Cirrent, Thread Group, and eQ-3 AG.
