11% of Spanish Homes with Broadband Already have a Control System for Smart Homes

  • Spain surpasses the United Kingdom and Germany in the use of Home Automation Services
  • On the 18th and 19th of November the Connections Europe 2014 event will take place in Amsterdam. Today's connected home is a changing place. The growing infiltration of high speed broadband is allowing consumers to acquire new habits and new devices with greater interconnection capacities. In this sense, it must be noted that, according to a recent study by Parks Associates, 11% of Spanish homes with broadband already have a smart system for controlling homes, ahead of the United Kingdom, with 9%, and 5% in Germany.

A Smart Home is much more than just domotics. A real Smart Home is that which interacts with all home systems with a singular objective: to provide help. The big difference of a smart home lies in its ability to interact with the rest of the systems, depending on specific needs at any given time.

Hence the trend is to provide homes with interconnected gadgets via Wi-Fi by using a smart net. New Smart Home services that Telecommunication and Utility Companies are currently demanding so they can integrate these services into other customer offers.

Given this market opportunity, Domoalert has developed its comprehensive platform on the Cloud to control Home Automation from a mobile device in an intuitive and simple way. The event will bring together more than 100 executives from across an international arena to network and to analyse the more relevant issues in the field of digital products and services for consumers.

Among the speakers that will take part in the event, there will be representatives from phone and telecommunication operators and Internet companies. The first to take to the stage will be Oliver Lewis, Director of Products & Operations at Sky Deutschland, and Ken Durand, Vice President of Innovation and Business Development at Ericsson.
