Parks Associates reports 27% of U.S. broadband households plan to buy a smart video doorbell in 2018

Parks Associates today announced the full keynote lineup for the 22nd-annual CONNECTIONS™: The Premier Connected Home Conference, May 22-24 in San Francisco, which features executives from Comcast, Google, Intel, Samsung, and T-Mobile. The IoT research firm released new research showing smart video doorbells and smart light bulbs are the most popular smart home devices at the beginning of 2018, with 27% of U.S. broadband households planning to purchase these products in the next 12 months. CONNECTIONS™ will discuss the expansion of smart home solutions in the home and new business strategies that enhance the consumer experience with connected solutions.

“Nationwide 7% of U.S. broadband households currently own a smart door bell, up from 4% at midyear 2017, and adoption is likely to spike in 2018, especially following market actions like the Amazon purchase of Ring,” said Elizabeth Parks, SVP, Parks Associates. “Amazon’s actions also show the importance in business strategies to get a foothold in the home with a central security device around which companies can build an ecosystem.”
