Parks Associates to host workshop on smart home solutions at Connected Health Conference in Boston with speakers from Alarm.com, AT&T, Comcast, IBM, Verizon, and more
International research firm Parks Associates today announced the list of IoT, health, and smart home executive for the workshop “Connected Health and IoT: Impact of Smart Home Solutions,” which will take place on October 17 in Boston, prior to the start of the Connected Health Conference, hosted by the Personal Connected Health Alliance (PCHAlliance). The workshop will provide attendees with knowledge and guidance at the intersection of the connected health and home, including insights from the firm’s new research 360 View: Health and Independent Living.
“One in six U.S. broadband households now owns a smart watch, and roughly two-thirds of these owners use the device daily,” said Jennifer Kent, Director, Research Quality & Product Development, Parks Associates. “NPS for this product category is also trending upwards, so we predict smart watches will have strong growth at the end of 2018 and start to expand beyond innovators and early adopters into the early majority.”
Smart watch owners value long battery life and easy functionality the most when making their purchase decision. Activity-tracking and GPS capabilities were equally important among approximately one-third of owners, which will drive additional health- and wellness-related use cases for the product category.
Parks Associates data also reveals strong growth for fitness trackers from 2014 to 2018. Both device categories are more multifunctional and incorporate more sophisticated sensors and algorithms than earlier product models. CE players are now attempting to expand their wellness and fitness products into new markets by more closely partnering with payers, providers, and employers.
