25% of U.S. broadband households consider an energy monitoring service very appealing

EnergyHub, NRG, and Schneider Electric to Keynote Smart Energy Summit

Parks Associates today announced that EnergyHub, NRG, and Schneider Electric will present the keynotes for the seventh-annual Smart Energy Summit: Engaging the Consumer, February 22-24, 2016, in Austin. The two-day executive conference will feature new research from Parks Associates on opportunities to expand consumer adoption of smart energy solutions, energy efficiency and DR programs, and smart home bundled solutions.

“The smart home is driving convergence among multiple verticals and creating opportunities to develop customized solutions for consumers,” said Tom Kerber, Director, Research, Home Controls & Energy, Parks Associates. “Each consumer is at a different point in their adoption of the connected home. Security subscribers and smart home device owners are key segments as early adopters of energy management solutions. To attract more mass-market consumers, companies can bundle energy services with other smart home services and products, which increases the overall appeal of these offerings.”

Conference keynotes include:

  • Seth Frader-Thompson, President, EnergyHub
  • Elizabeth Killinger, President of NRG Retail and Reliant, NRG
  • Paul Campbell, VP Innovation / Head of Silicon Valley Innovation Center, Schneider Electric

Parks Associates research finds 25% of all U.S. broadband households find energy management very appealing. Interest increases to 37% of households that own at least one smart home device.

"I'm excited to participate in this year's Smart Energy Summit, both as an advisory board member and speaker,” said Seth Frader-Thompson, President, EnergyHub. “Energy management solutions have long been at the forefront of conversations about the connected home, and we look forward to sharing data from our programs on how energy management features create value for both service providers and customers. The Summit is a great opportunity to join energy industry leaders to envision the future of energy management in the connected home."

Smart Energy Summit will address partnership opportunities among utilities, service providers, and device makers and how these efforts can create new value for consumers. Speakers and analysts will examine current success stories in the energy market, discuss the role of the solar industry in the smart home, and identify new smart home technologies and devices that will help drive consumer engagement in the energy markets.

“The conference sessions examine the multiple paths utilities and other companies can take in delivering successful energy solutions to the connected home,” Kerber said. “Smart Energy Summit gives context that is critical to understanding the convergence of energy management, the smart home, and distributed generation as well as the new emerging opportunities that companies can leverage to increase consumer engagement.”
