Top 10 Tech Trends in 2022: Device Integration Will Drive the Next Evolution of Telehealth Models

Parks Associates recently published the Top 10 Connected Consumer Trends to Watch in 2022, where my colleagues and I weigh in on the top consumer technology trends we will see in 2022.This year, expect to see the next wave of telehealth models revolve around the integration of connected health devices.

Driven by the pandemic, telehealth and connected health device adoption are now mainstream in the United States - nearly two-thirds of US broadband households report using a telehealth service in the past 12 months, and 55% own at least one product that collects and transmits their biometric health data, such as a smart watch. With care providers and patients increasingly recognizing the limits of a purely visit-based approach to telehealth, demand for remote patient monitoring (RPM) solutions is at an all-time high — and telehealth providers are taking notice, as evidenced by the merger of Teladoc and Livongo in late 2020. Parks Associates surveys have found that patients are increasingly choosing their care providers based on their ability to support RPM and use data from connected health devices.

Throughout the year, Parks Associates will host in-person and virtual events to explore the impact of these trends on the smart home industry and adjacent ecosystems in the energy, entertainment, and health spaces. For more information on Parks Associates’ upcoming executive conferences, see the 2022 event schedule.
