Q: What can energy providers do to move from active participant to an indispensable element of the smart home?
A: Utilities should provide a seamless, multi-channel customer experience that includes normal business interactions, but also a pathway for customers’ systems to connect and respond to system needs and demand through price and other signals.

Q: How can energy providers generate incremental revenue in the smart home?
A: Utilities should develop means for smart homes and systems to contribute to resource and reliability requirements, or reduce the utilities’ wholesale obligations, and be compensated appropriately.
